The APPG for International Students held its Inaugural General Meeting (IGM) on Wednesday 16 October 2024. This was the APPG’s first formal meeting of the current parliament following the General Election in 2024, marking the reconstitution of the Group.
Following the IGM, the APPG held a panel discussion with the education sector on Counting International Students: Understanding the data debate behind international student numbers. Speakers included representatives from the Department for Education (DfE), Home Office, Office for National Statistics (ONS), the British Council, and Jisc, who discussed migration, export and graduate outcomes data for international students, along with emerging research on international alumni following the paths international students take when they leave study.
